Full disclosure, I’m a paid Partner with both Factor75 & HelloFresh! (Fun fact, they are the same company!) After using both for *years* with my own money, they reached out and offered me discount links to share with my friends and family and followers that earn me commission & free food! Win win!
Scroll to the bottom for the details on the deals and links to order!
But aside from trying to sell you food, here in this post I’m going to give you my Dietitian thoughts, the pros and cons, and how to think about using them to achieve your weight loss goals on a #glp1!
Let’s start with Factor…
Pros: Portion Controlled, Super clear Calories/Macros/Ingredients on the Labels that in my opinion feel pretty accurate, Variety of Foods and Dietary Styles to choose from with an App to make your selections, REALLY tasty! Arrive cold but not frozen, last 4-5 days, microwave in 2 mins! Nice small-ish portion sizes for folks on GLP-1s. Takes the thinking about of putting a meal together. Really great for folks who are single or live alone. My husband and I personally use these for workday lunches.
Cons: Sometimes small portions, wide range of calories 500-1,000, consistently pretty high in sodium and saturated fats (hence why they are so tasty!). Sometimes the protein feels low even on the Protein Plan; 20g in my opinion is about half of what I’d want to see. It can be pretty pricey per meal, especially after the initial discount deal expires, but for people like my husband who were going out to fast food a lot, it’s cheaper. Some folks don’t love all the plastic containers if you’re into that concern. And, if you don’t make your personal selections in time you might end up with random choices you don’t love.
Pro Tips: Order carefully and check the labels on each item to make sure they fit in your goals, I prefer to order from the “Calorie Smart” or “High Protein” category. The vegetarian options are really nice too, especially if you have maybe your own chicken breast you could add to bump up the protein. Consider reaching on in there before you microwave and pulling out that giant dollop of butter from the veggies - especially if you’re on a GLP-1 and get nausea with high fat foods. Consider also plating the meal over top some extra veggies or greens for more fiber - sometimes the veg portion feels small.
Alright, now let’s talk about Hello Fresh…
These are the Talking Points they’d like me to share with you:
Easy & Delicious: Pre-portioned ingredients for meals that are simple to cook and full of flavor. Convenient: Save time on grocery shopping and meal planning with meals delivered right to your door. Variety: Choose from a wide selection of meals to fit your dietary preferences and lifestyle. Flexible Plans: Change your meals and delivery schedule whenever you need. Great Value: High-quality ingredients at an affordable price.
All true! But also, here's my opinion…
Pros: You might actually get really good at cooking! I credit Hello Fresh for helping me gain confidence in the kitchen, figure out my cooking timing, learn how to make a yummy sauces and explore new foods I might not buy on my own. I love the variety of cuisines and flavors - all of the Indian, Asian, Greek flavors are lovely! The recipes are easy to follow and the macros/calories are available when you pick your selections. There’s no food waste because they send you exactly what you need for each recipe. We order 2 meals a week to spice things up from my usual staples.
Cons: Dishes - oh so many dishes. And so much chopping (sometimes). Also, not every meal is “healthy”! You really do need to spend some time making your selections in a way that aligns with your goals. If you forget to pick what you want you might end of with a pasta dish that’s 1200 calories a serving! Of course, they LOVE butter and oil and salt and I personally don’t think any of their recipes need as much as they say! Sometimes the produce is a little wonky - especially if you don’t make the meal close to when you order it (but their customer service is nice and will refund you for a lot of things!). The meat options are also not always lean - the beefs and porks can be extra tasty but pretty high in fat! I try and stick with the chicken, seafood and fish dishes. Sometimes the servings of veggies feels pretty small and then sometimes the meals feels like they are missing a whole component (the “calorie smart” are notorious for just pretending we don’t need carbohydrates). And lastly, my kids are totally hit or miss on these meals. Its not unusual for our Grown Up Hello Fresh Meal Nights to be my kids chicken nugget night - I’m not proud of it, but I can’t make them eat what they don’t want.
Pro Tips: Order smart - check not only the nutrition facts but the prep steps and time requirements. Consider the vegetarian options and add your own protein. Consider buying the 4 servings and using the leftovers for meal prep. Invest in a quality stove top pan. Consider using your air fryer for veggies instead of turning on the whole oven. They only send the “real” versions of things - so if you’re on a weight loss journey you may want to use your own “lite” sour cream, for example. Don’t be afraid to add to the meals to make them more satisfying or to better meet your goals - I often add more veggies or even a side of microwave rice if they didn’t send a starch. And lastly, save the recipe cards to the meals you love and make them on your own - you can probably save money buying the ingredients in bulk.

I got a deal on Blue Apron meals that go in the microwave. They are tasty but average like 1000-1500 grams of sodium which is a ton for one meal. I get tired of either having a turkey sandwich or ground bison and stir fry veggies so definitely worth a try.
